Big changes are set to be made to the channels available on Foxtel from 1 Au‌gust.

While some channels will be relaunched or renamed, it’s bad news for fans of BBC News which is set to be axed from the pay television platform.

“Foxtel is constantly evaluating our offering to meet the changing interests of our customers, and provide Australia’s best entertainment experience at the best possible value,” the company said.

“In the coming months you’ll see some exciting updates as we launch a range of new and refreshed channels and integrate more third party apps to give customers more choice. While we continue to invest to keep bringing our customers the shows and entertainment they love most, we will be saying goodbye to some familiar channels.”

As well as BBC News, BBC First, BBC Earth, the CBeebies channels and A&E will all exit the platform.

Fashion TV will launch on channel 151 on 6 August.

“Your front row seat to the world of fashion. Get an insider’s view of the fashion industry with over 100 hours of new programming each month showcasing the latest trends, major fashion shows, designer events and highlights of fashion industry professionals, Fashion TV offers the most comprehensive and fastest review of fashion anywhere.”

On 15 August 2024, Foxtel is launching a “Travel” pop-up channel on channel 129.

“Travel evokes your sense of wanderlust right from the comfort of your home, be transported to places near and far and get inspired to book that next trip. From foreign lands to local gems, Travel is Foxtel’s go to destination for when you want to escape. On 3 September 2024, Foxtel is launching DocPlay Channel on 119.

“Your gateway to the world of Docplay documentaries. The DocPlay channel presents a selection of the world’s most amazing and thought-provoking documentaries available on the DocPlay app. You don’t need to subscribe to the DocPlay app to be able to watch the DocPlay channel, it is available for all Foxtel customers.”

Sleuth will change to a new channel called British, a quintessentially English entertainment experience. In addition Famous, a new dedicated documentary channel bringing you closer to the world’s most recognisable people, will replace the Docos channel.

The new destination for history and crime will be Real History and Real Crime, replacing History and C&I and will continue to showcase your favourite shows.

History (ch.130) will become “Real History”.

Through uplifting and affirming accounts of our past, Real History takes you on a journey back in time, uncovering the events that have shaped and continue to shape our world. An entertaining destination where the past comes alive. It is compelling, entertaining content touching on military, ancient, modern, topical and tabloid history.

It’s Foxtel’s premiere destination for credible, entertaining, investigative true crime programming. Key titles: The First 48, Homicide Hunter, Crimes that Shook Australia, Ron Iddles: The Good Cop.”

Docos will become “Famous”.
